I have a 55wf655 tv that worked great and I turned it on one day and it went off on it's own.  Now the picture and sound come on for 15 seconds and goes off for 21 seconds and repeats this over and over.  The picture and sound look great for the 15 seconds it is on.  Ran a diagnostic check and it does have a #1 by the lamp driver.  It does give the 5 blinks.  Can anyone tell me if this is truly the lamp driver and how to go about replacing it.  However.... not sure if this is important, the diagonostic screen that came up has the word hue also come up and I did not see this on the screens in the service manual when running the diagnostic.   Only watching 15 seconds of football every other 21 seconds can put a damper on the game!!  LOL  Can anyone suggest some help?

Welcome to Agoraquest!  I would replace the lamp, especially if you have never replaced it before.

How any hours do you have on your lamp? Replacing the lamp like Jehill stated will usually fix this issue. Also, it's good to reset your lamp hours after replacing the lamp.

Is replacing the lamp something I can do myself?

    lgangel11,

Absolutely, changing the lamp on your TV is very easy and will only take a few minutes.

Look HERE for a step by step with pictures. It will take you longer to read the post than it will take to actually change the lamp.

To reset the lamp hours read HERE

Best of luck and please let us know how things go or if you have any questions.

    Joe

    Hi,

It's very easy to replace the bulb. Jttars posts has all the information needed. When you do a new lamp, get one with the housing as well and an official Sony one. Also, check on what the warranty is for the bulb. Some have 30 to 90 days if the lamp dies. The longer the warranty the better.
