    Hello,
turned on my kdl-46xbr5 this morning(purchased 1/08,U.S. model) picture and sound came on for about 3 sec. and then tv shut off and
    standby

    light
flashes 13 times.unplugged for 1 hr. and plugged directy into wall socket and tried again and got no picture/sound but the same 13 blinks. can't seem to find any blink codes specifically for this model when I search the forum. does anyone have the specific codes for this model, i saw one code that said that the lcd panel was gone, but it was for a different model.

    Thanks,
    WG

That sucks. i sold my brother that exact tv, i would not let up until sony fixes it period. Great LCD! What are the chances of that. Keep us informed, in case something like that happens to my brother.

See also "replacement for kdl46xbr5" thread:

Talked to Sony, took the kdl52xbr9 for 400. Tried to get expedited shipping and extended warranty, but they wouldn't go for it and xbr8 request was as if I was speaking vulcan(it's as if they are reading from a script and won't deviate unless you try to go to the next level i.e. writing a letter to corporate exec office or file a lawsuit like some have done) I just don't have it in me to fuss over $400 for a NEW 52"xbr9 from a 46"xbr5, don't get me wrong, but one thing I've learned is to pick your battles, they could have said "too bad so sad" you're out of warranty, NO SOUP FOR YOU! Plus, I read the "bravia 13 blinks" thread and that guy had the same initial problem that I had but he tinkered with his tv and was able to fix it for $20 with a new tube/bulb instead of taking the diagnosis of 13 blinks that his LCD panel was DOA, so before I send my old set off to be recycled I think I'll try to dissect it."nothing ventured, nothing gained"

p.s. thanks for the advice duketbrd88

    WG
