I have a Sony KF-60DX100 that has been working flawless for years now but now while watching a blu-ray or any other source the menu box on the TV started to pop up on the screen all the time, I hit the menu button on the remote and it goes away only to return again and again. Some time it stays gone for a few minutes and then some time it keeps popping up and some time it will not go away for a few minutes. I removed the battery from the remote to see if the remote was transmitting the signal without me touching the button no good I even covered the remote sensor on the TV to see if interference might be the cause again no luck. I know. ANy idea what might be the cause of this. Thanks Roger C

Welcome to Agoraquest! One possibility is that over the years what ever you use to clean the screen has seeped down into the board that contains the IR sensor or the front panel switches. Cleaning or replacing the effected board will probably rectify the problem.

I have never used any kind of liquid to clean the screen, I always used the cleaning cloth that came with it.

OK! You can rule that out! However, the board still could be defective.

Is this board something I can get and change myself, do you know ho much it might cost to have someone come to fix it. I have to decide if the set is worth the cost to fix even it had been a great TV and still does a great job with both dvd/blu-ray and hi-def cable I am looking to change it in about 4 to 5 months. Now when the TV is one the menu not only pops up but start to go through all the other menus boxes as well, very frustrating as can't really watch it anymore and it is the only set in the house.

I think that the most likely source of the problem is the H2 (USER CONTROL) board, since it includes all of the user controls, including the MENU button. The H2 board part number is A-1377-051-A, but its no longer available. If I had the set, I would remove the board and clean it thoroughly with 99.9% pure technical grade isopropyl alcohol.

Where is this board located in the TV is it something I could remove myself to clean, you say the board is no longer made how do you know this. Here is a funny thing that has been happening the past few week, I notices that the least I watch the TV is the least the menu box pops up I tried this and did not turn on the set for over two week and for the first 2 hours the menu box did not pop up at all and after that is also only popped up a few time till I turn it off then I watch it for the next 3 days about 2 to 3 hours a night and box kept popping up every few seconds over and over.

The board is right behing the user controls on the front of the TV. You have to remove the rear cover of the TV and look for the board at that location. How do I no that the part is no longer available? By performing a Part Number search at https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/index.jsp.

Update on my song saga, for the past few week the TV has been working fine I found out the least I watch it the least the menu box would pop up and get over two hours before the box starts to pop up. But yesterday I turned it on and after 10 min the screen went black like it turned it self off light on front keeps flashing and after a min or so I get a click and then buzzing sound coming from the TV all while the screen is blank (off). I un plug it and left it over night and tried it again today hit on button no screen just flash red light and again a click sound then the buzz it will do it over and over again un till I turn it off. So now I believe it is really dead, any idea what this is now.

How many times does the red light flash? n blinks, pause, n blinks, etc. indicates an error code that might help locate the problem.

When I first turn it on the timer/stand by light blinks once for a sec then starts to blink and does not stop, now every 20 blinks I hear this buzz in the back and it will keep blinking and the buzz again after 20 blinks and will not stop till I turn it off. Something I did not notice before on the front there is a lamp light but I do not see it coming on.

The buzzing that you hear is the spark gap on the lamp driver board limiting the high voltage applied to the lamp. This is normal and happens on each attempt to ignite the lamp. If you have never replaced the lamp, I would do so now. If that doesn't work, consider replacing the lamp driver.
