Amp/Receiver/Speaker...TA-N1, SS-M9EDs on ebayTo whom it may concern,   There is an extremely rare TA-N1 amp for sale on ebay. Item #110454443775. Also from the same seller a pair of extremely rare SS-M9EDs for sale. Item #110454753704. The seller says the amp is in good shape but the speakers are beat up. The super tweeters are crushed. He said these items were donated to a school and have been sitting around there for some years. Lucky school to have been given these very rare (and most expensive) members of Sony's reference SACD system. Too bad they didn't know what they had or least didn't appreciate them._Mykl
MD/CD/SACD (2) CDP-R1 + DAS-R1 combos for sale Hi Joe, I know I'm not around here much but it's always a pleasure to chat with the great folks and friends I've made here. My most sincere apologies to any that I"ve neglected, but life can at times throw a few curveballs. Hopefully I'll be able to spend more time here in the future. Thanks for the warm welcome my friend_Mykyl BTW between us Chi-towners...So much for the Super Bowl Champs..GO BEARS On 2009-10-03 21:52, jttar wrote: Hello Michael!! Amp/Receiver/Speaker...TA-ER1 + 2 X TA-NR10 for salesony9000es_That is one truly beautiful rack of Sony gear. Welcome to Agoraquest and I hope you post often and for a long time. I too have watched some of your auctions with interest. Continued good luck with them._Mykl [ This message was edited by: mykyll2727 on 2009-10-03 19:38 ]
MD/CD/SACD (2) CDP-R1 + DAS-R1 combos for saleFor anyone that's interested_There are two of these legendary and extremely rare combos for sale at the same time. Personally I've never seen that before. Heck I've rarely seen one combo for sale before. Anyway one pair is on eBay for $3700 BIN. Ebay #150377213252. The other is on Audiogon for $2800 OBO, item #1259783482._Mykyl
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...TA-ER1 + 2 X TA-NR10 for saleFantastic and ultra rare units. Absolutely gorgeous. Fabulous examples of Sony's audio excellence. Truly, they don't make 'em like that anymore. Nearly twenty years old and new, amazing.  In the same vein there's a very rare TA-E1 pre for sale on Audiogon for anyone that's interested. It's wrongly listed as a receiver though._Mykl
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...DVP N9100ES vs SCD XA9000ESThanks for the great pics. I'd never seen the inside of the Modwright unit before. On his website it states that his mods to the SCD-XA5400ES will produce his best sounding unit yet. Now that'll really be something. The listed pricing is less than his 9100ES. To me that makes it even better yet._Mykyl
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...DVP N9100ES vs SCD XA9000ESRichard_Used minty XA9kES' appear on A-gon almost all of the time. In fact there are a few units on there now. The going price now is in the $1000 to $1200 range.    I want to make it clear that the only comparisons I've made have been with my own units and the results may be different with other units esp. in other systems. I've never even tested the two sources with my DA3000ES. Just too much trouble for me. I've only done it with my heavily tweaked and tuned DA9kES. The synergy between the 7100/9100 units may produce different results. I don't know. But if my experience is a ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...DVP N9100ES vs SCD XA9000ESRichard, I've had a SCD-XA9000ES for about three months now. I didn't get the used unit I had originally mentioned here but instead opted for a brand new unit and have come to the following conclusions. Either A) my NS9100ES is in some way defective (I bought it brand new and all functions appear to working as they should) causing ALL audio outputs, analog and digital(opt., coax, and iLink) to be seriously comprimised, or B) the synergy between the XA and my STR-DA9000ES is FAR superior to that of the NS and DA, or C) the XA is on all outputs sonically FAR superior to that of the NS. ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STRDA900ES minor issues - keeps shutting off interJim_how's your DA9kES been running after your power reset? (It's something I have to do occasionally with my RCD-W2000ES after a long recording session. It starts to get quirky with finalising discs. The power reset is an advised remedy in it's manual.) When the shutoff happens on your 9kES does any "error code" appear in the display?_Mykl

Amp/Receiver/Speaker...DVP N9100ES vs SCD XA9000ES Richard I'll be very interested in the repiles to your post as I'm in the same position as you. I have a NS9100ES and can get a XA9000ES. Since the XA5400ES (has it actually been discontinued already?) is of really no use to me as my DA9000ES can't make use of HDMI, I'd like to know the impressions/opinions from anyone who has actually heard both the XA9kES and the NS9100ES thru iLink._Mykl
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Here we go again - two more SSK90ED's on Ebay Jim_It wasn't all that long ago that you and I were picking them up NIB for $99.99 each. We should count our lucky stars on that count my friend.    It's interesting to me that there's such a disparity in price between the two sets of posts. At the end of the month I'm going to have some time off (due to the economy). At that time I'm going to go to my spare unit and see if I can tell why._Mykl [ This message was edited by: mykyll2727 on 2009-06-02 02:05 ]

Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Tribute to the Sony SS Speaker line (SS-K90ED, SS- Thanks everyone for the info on the X900 sub's posts. I was told by an A-quest member some time ago that his X900 had spring clips.  AFA the K series goes, I, like wallew, use nine K90EDs with my STR-DA9000ES and, like him, find it to be an excellent match sonically. It's a pairing that I've found represents itself very well against far more expensive setups. Well IMO anyway. Others may well disagree but none that have heard my setup have expressed any disagreement.  There is something about the K series I've found interesting. The US and Canadian versions ha ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Here we go again - two more SSK90ED's on Ebay Jim_I'm with you. As we've both discovered, since an upgrade in cables made such a difference I suspect internal upgrades could really improve on the K90's performance even further. The mods I'll definitely have done will be upgrades to the binding posts and internal wiring, a rebuilding of the X-overs, removal of the existing acoustic materials and lining the cabinets with a material called no-rez. That means essentially only the cabinets and drivers will be stock. There may even be an addition of Bybee filters at the drivers. Haven't made a final decision on that ye ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Here we go again - two more SSK90ED's on Ebay Jim_I think it would be a great DIY project for some one like yourself. I'm sure you could greatly improve their performance level over stock. My simple tweaks have improved the level of mine. If I had your experience and expertise I'd be modding a pair of mine myself instead of looking to send them off to Danny Richie for modding. Part of his mod is upgrading the binding posts. Just as Maxx said from what I've experienced with modded components, connector upgrades can produce surprisingly good results. This "damage" to the K90s may prove to be a boon to you in the en ..

I bought a sound level meter und set the speakers, but for the front speakers it's only balance. Do i have to use the balance to make all the speakers on the same level? Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Here we go again - two more SSK90ED's on Ebay I saw these too and have some concerns about them. He doesn't have the pedestals (as Sony called the them) and I believe they are a bit costly to replace. My greatest concern comes from the picture of the rears. Look closely. It appears to me that the covers aren't missing from two posts (like an earlier set for sale) but rather that each speaker actually has a speaker post that is broken off . If this is the case, and this is putting aside the implications of possible internal damage, how can these speakers even be proper ..
