Off-topicWhat's your connection speed? Test and link! On 2010-09-01 15:09, dontsleep33 wrote: This speedtest site is regarded as the best there is. Having said that I think I know why you guys are seeing inflated speeds.Comcast offers a boost feature which increases bandwith for the first 5 - 10 seconds of a download and upload. After that the speed goes down to your regular provisioned tier. Good call Tony, Comcast does use the "Boost" feature which could account for the inflated speed numbers. Joe
Blu-Ray/HD DVDSound Help!Hey Tim, I am happy to hear that you are enjoying your system and that it was not anything defective. Also, happy to have been of any help. Hope you check back here from time to time. Never know when you might be able to help someone else out. Enjoy, Joe
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR-DB930 - no sound through speakers or headHello akiller, Greetings and welcome. At the risk of stating the obvious, could the speaker A/B switch been bumped during the ride back home? Joe
Off-topicSony grand wega power issueHello farshad, Greetings and welcome. Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your 50WE610.be You will have a better chance of getting a response to your problem if you repost your question in the Television Troubleshooting section of the forum HERE . Off-topicWhat's your connection speed? Test and link!Tony, Thought you were back in NYC to stay. You really will be slumming reducing your speed to a 1MB DSL connection. After what you have been accustom to it is going to feel like the old dial up connectoids. Safe trip my friend. Joe
Off-topicWhat's your connection speed? Test and link!Hi Tony, I have had my plan for over ten years. For my ISP (Comcast) the next tier up wpuld be what John has which is the 22/5 tier. If they did upgrade me to that tier I should have better up and down speeds and I am sure that Comcast would want their $20 more per month. Joe
Blu-Ray/HD DVDSound Help!thinirish, Just looked up the soundbar connections and it is suppose to have 3 HDMI in's and 1 HDMI out. I am trying to understand your connections. Do you connect one HDMI cable from your Cable box to the soundbar. Another HDMI cable from your BluRay player to the soundbar and then use a third HDMI cable from the output of your soundbar to your KDL32EX500? That should be all you need for video and audio. No need for optical cable. Joe
Off-topicWhat's your connection speed? Test and link!I agree John, the numbers could be inflated. I am paying for the Comcast 12/2 tier and here are my results using a "N" router with a 1.0 Gbps connection. Joe

Blu-Ray/HD DVDSound Help!Hello thinkirish, Greetings and welcome. I agree with scott1019 in that it is most likely a setting in your BD player. Try going into the audio menu and make sure that  "audio connection" is set properly. Let us know what you find. Joe
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...After 20 years of wanting one, it finally happend!Hello Sonylover, If once is nice, do it twice. Way to go! Congratulations on your stunning pair of TA-N77ES's. They look to be in pristine condition and those wood panels are gorgeous. Got to love those wonderful sweep meters and all the lights work!  I wish you many years of trouble free service from these Sony legends and thank you for sharing the news and pictures with us. Can't wait to hear your report on how they sound. Regards, Joe
MD/CD/SACDCD player Mods On 2010-08-29 12:05, RickeyM wrote: MDF directly under a component probably won't do any good. As primarily sawdust and glue, it won't behave like real wood and absorb any vibrations. I agree RickeyM. I would suggest a nice piece of srap maple. When I used to have a glass shelf A/V rack, a piece of maple under the component made a noticable difference in sound. Joe
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...UPDATE: Speakers weak link?Hey Aiden, Congratulations of your new BDP-S1000ES. Man you couldn't beat that price with a hammer!! After you have a chance to install it into your system and give it an audition please post back and let us know about your 7.1 experience. Joe
