Amp/Receiver/Speaker...PowerAmp and Cd PlayerHave you considered a "passive pre-amp"? Basically an external line level attentuator that you can use with most any amp.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...hatseflats"- No bass boost " That alone may account from the differences in sound.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...The AC Plug Thread / The Benefits of Upgrading to Let me add my two cents by adding that even my Vintage STR-7065A showed an improvement by replacing the PC plug. The plug I used is a polished Pass & Seymour (I swear I'm gonna get a few Leviton's Maxx) . The point is, that if a 30yr-old receiver with a powercord that looks like it came right off a cheap lamp can benefit from a better plug, there's not much out there that couldn't.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Vintage Sony to the rescue! Here's the pic. Aside from the PC plug and maybe, maybe a heavier guage power cord, this is one unit I'm gonna leave un-modded! I do consider replacing those 30yr old(?) PS to be under the heading of "maintenence" tho' . ----------------- Graduate of Sony University, class of '94. Support your local S.P.C.A. Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Vintage Sony to the rescue!Yesterday while moving some stuff around, my McCormack amp got a severe bump and stopped working. The protection lamp is "yellow" and no sound comes out. I could run my Maggies with my STR-DA50ES for the time being, but modern Sony receivers  aren't at their best with 4-ohm speakers. I don't have access to my other gear at the new digs right now, but I do have my STR-7065A just sitting around. Most of the older vintage amps/receivers (like the Sony) have pretty stout power supplies and will drive 4-ohm speakers easily. The neat thing about the STR-7065A is that it has pre-out/main ..

Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Just bought my first TA-N55ES On 2009-07-12 10:37, Sergey_Martyn wrote: <blockquote> On 2009-07-11 04:35, RickeyM wrote: I wonder how the TA-N55ES would sound with a few mods done to it? Coupla things like a heavier powercord & a good plug, bigger PS caps, some quality RCA chassis jacks. Does anybody here have a "gut shot" of one of these amps? Forget it. TA-N55ES possesses quite healthy and very competently designed power supply. The problem with ultrasonics lies in two ICs at the input, and the lack of current is due to just two transistors at the output stage. No matter what fancy sockets/cord ..

Do It Yourself Home ...Blown Subwoofer AmpTwo things you may want to check first. Is the speaker in the sub a 4-ohm unit & can your amp drive a 4-ohm load when bridged to mono? If your TFM-45 is only rated to handle an 8-ohm load in mono, driving a 4-ohm sub with it bridged wouldn't be good. If need be, I don't think it'd hurt anything to drive the Paradigm off of one channel of the Carver. [ This message was edited by: RickeyM on 2009-07-01 08:57 ]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...bought a TA-E2000ES-D ?? how is it vs TA-E80ES ? On 2009-06-15 20:56, ZeusZore wrote: one question though, about my E2000ESD, that having the same Dac as my X202CDP, should i run toslink ? instead of RCA ontil i get a preamp lige TA-E80ES or like !? thanks Allow me to chime in. The 'glass Toslinks are very popular here because the vast majority of users here have gotten a benifit from using one. For less than the cost of a so-called "good" RCA digital patch cord, the glass toslink is well worth it.   [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...bought a TA-E2000ES-D ?? how is it vs TA-E80ES ?Hey Z_Z , which CDP are you using? I vote for the analog E80ES. Even if the DAC in your present disc player isn't better than the one in the E2000ES, maybe down the road you'll get one that is.
Do It Yourself Home ...Behringer Amp ModHi guys. I've missed the last few posts to this threat 'till now. I've recently moved so getting ready for that, the actual move and getting settled in has kept me pretty busy. The mods I did on my EP1500 have improved the SQ so IMO they were worth doing. At the time the Behringer was powering my Maggie MMG's so any SQ improvements were a plus. What I'd like to do is install a better plug on the powercord and install RCA jacks like Elderion has done. I also did a cap & Op-amp upgrade on the Behringer but it wouldn't power up when I was done. I think I've trace ..
MD/CD/SACDSony CDP-X777ESBigallen, if you could post top view and bottom view pics of your circuit your board, we could probably point out the locations of the Op-amps for you.   With something like National Semiconductor LM4562 Op-amps in place, you're '777's DAC section would probably better the DAC section in the Denon. The main culprit on that stock powercord is the stock plug with it's nickel-plated blades. Even a basic brass-bladed plug is better than that. A copper or gold-plated blade plug may be even better. Does the '777 have a detachable powercord? If so, upgraded connections (male ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Monster Cable lowers prices during recessionI've got several Monster cables I got free or cheap, that I was gonna send back to Monster as a personell protest.  Those @#$%&! would probably re-sell them. In all good conscience, I couldn't take a chance of inflicting that on someone else    [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...TA-N55ES ohm load and info ?Yeah, you're right. With a quick look at a small pic, I thought the knob on the left of the front panel was a level control too. I guess you're stuck with the factory balance between highs & lows, unless you go with active bi-amping. Depending on the flooring in your room, you might benefit from something like these under your amps. ----------------- Graduate of Sony University, class of '94. Support your local S.P.C.A. Amp/Receiver/Speaker...TA-N55ES ohm load and info ?On the contrary, that amp has a level control for each channel. To wit, a level control for the channel handling the highs and a level control for the channel handling the lows. You actually gain the ability to balance the highs vs the lows in each speaker independently. To complete the look, you could get a couple of Butcher Block cutting boards (cheaper than so-called amp stands) to place the amps on.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...STR-DE675: Hooking up phono input Hi sharkride and welcome to Agoraquest . The thing is, a great number of modern HT receivers lack the input (which have the proper gain) for a turntable. The item in your link appears to be just what you need for converting your vinyl to digital. In the description it states  "iMic shines as the essential tool for converting your vinyl LP and tape collection into MP3s and CDs. Recording records and tapes through iMic directly from your turntable or tape deck is super easy. The included CD-ROM provides all the software you need: for Mac users, Final V ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Congrats To MaxxUsually it's either quality or quantity. With Maxx , we get both ! Way to go buddy.
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...TA-F707ES Germany Model that uses Elna 63V 6800uf The size/capacity of the power supply caps has nothing to do with the output impedence rating of the amp. If a certain version of an amp has larger power supply caps and the bigger caps will fit in your amp, it could be a worthy upgrade. It could probably add a little more omph to your amp's low-end output.
