Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR-DB930Scott- That all depends on what you want to accomplish with testing the DB 930. ~Maxx~ [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR-DB930Scott- Thanks for the complement on my pictures and no I don't have Photoshop. One reason I like the H-9 is that even without the Sony 1.7X Teleconversion Lens which shoots up to 1580 mm the 15X Zeiss Lens shoots at 31mm up to 930mm plus you can add an aftermarket 57mm-72mm tube adaptor which enables the use of any 72mm attachment like a UV/Haze Filter or a Circular Polarizer or both stacked... First I apologize for the quality of this picture, but I took it with my old 5MP Nikon L-3 in extended exposure mode. Getting this $35 adapter tube was definitely a good investment though because ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR-DB930 My Sony DSC H-9 uses the Sony Zeiss lens and the pictures it takes can be quite remarkable if the light cooperates. Getting the DSC H-10 would be a wise move as Sony has discontinued using the excellent quality Zeiss Glass in favor of their Sony G lenses. ~Maxx~ *Sony DSC H-9 aka Sony H-9 MaxxPix

Only a direct A/B comparison will decide this battle.   The DB 930 did just that repeatedly and with impunity back in 1999 both on the testbench and on the showroom floor! We're awaiting the results of your 2010 rematch. ~Maxx~ [addsig]
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Glass TOSLink optical cable. Are you sure it's mad On 2010-08-31 00:38, Reinhart wrote: However, music does sound quite good with the glass cable after playing some jazz (Miles Davis), rock (Rush) and classical (Mozart), and the D/A in the DA4ES is light years ahead of the Pulse converter in the X229ES in any case. That's quite a strenuous listening test you gave the Glass Toslink! The great thing about the Glass Toslink is that it has the potential to improve as wide a variety of Audio equipment as it is capable of making a wide variety of Music that was made over a 200 year period each sound better in their own unique way! ~Maxx ..

I first learned of the First Golden Watt concept from Steve Deckert of Decware. I was a power junkie at the time with a 1,500 watt Audio System and didn't pay all that much attention to what he had to say, after I upgraded to high Bandwidth Fused Silica Glass Toslink and got my listening room treated with Auralex Studiofoam I started turning down the volume and listening to the incredibly detailed Music for the first time. Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Glass TOSLink optical cable. Are you sure it's mad I see what you mean. Having lived in Taiwan for 5 years and worked with Export Processing Zone engineers helps a little in understanding what they mean. The optical Fiber Cable is 1 piece of PVC while the 'Cord' they refer to is Glass and having done a lot of translations for Chinese engineers who's English was rudimentary at best they evidently meant a Conductor of Glass instead of a 'Cord' of Glass. ~Maxx~ ----------------- A Satisfied Sony Fan Since 1974! Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR-DB930Scott- I've yet to see a Sony Receiver do well in an 'All Channels Driven' test. Since 'All Channels' never get driven equally in practical use this test never meant much to me. The only equipment that I've seen do well in the 'All Channels Driven' test were beefy Solid State Power Amps like John Curl's Parasound HCA 2205... Are you sure it's mad On 2010-08-30 12:35, Reinhart wrote: Is there an inexpensive, simple test that can help to determine objectively that the cable is glass without destroying the cable itself? Reinhart- Its good to heat from you again! My experience with Glass Toslink goes back 8 years and I have been recommending various inexpensive iterations of it for as long. The basic difference is that the plastic Toslink conductor is a molded mono-fiber and Glass Toslink conductor has either 65 or 270 individuated Fused Silica Glass fibers. This is the most objective difference between these cables, but as ..
Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR-DB930Well.....Everything is dependent on everything else that comes both before it and after it in the Signal Chain. In that the Audio signal is not modulated but completely re-created within each piece of Audio equipment using the AC power supplied to it if the AC Plugs, Power Cords and Line Conditioning aren't right then nothing will be as right as it could be. A $10 14 AWG heavy duty cord, $8 hospital grade outlet, and "borrowed" hospital grade plug is guaranteed to improve the performance of your DB 930, but I have found that the performance and sound quality of my Audio equipment becomes a le ..

I upgraded most of the wiring when I moved in and chose this wire as I had the intent of putting in a dedicated room in the future for this outlet. Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR-DB930Scott- I have never understood why PS Audio insists upon using thickly plated 15% IACS conductivity Nickel contacts in their outlets instead of the 95% IACS conductivity Phosphor Bronze Hubbell 8200IG that they used in their Audio Extension Link just a decade ago... And now on to a very surprising discovery I made while upgrading outlets... Amp/Receiver/Speaker...UPDATE: Speakers weak link?aidendey- I was fortunate enough to arrange a private audition of a prototype demo model of the BDP-S1000ES at the main theater in the Sony Style store in Ceaser's Palace and let me tell you it not only looked absolutely fantastic running the $15,000 Qualia 006 Flat Panel, but it sounded equally as good. So good in fact that 100's of people put themselves on a waiting list after seeing and hearing the BDP-S1000ES eagerly anticipating the availability of this ground breaking Blu Ray player. ~Maxx~ [addsig]

Amp/Receiver/Speaker...Sony STR-DB930 Scott- Five years ago I had to make a 50 mile round trip to Fry's to get the 99% Pure Technical Grade Alcohol that the Bottleheads had originally recommended to me for cleaning out Tube Sockets on my Tube Power Amp, but since then the national bed bug epidemic has brought it to local pharmacies and grocery stores alike in $2-$3 pint bottles because it dehydrates and kills the prehistoric critters on contact. ~Maxx~ [addsig]

I have found a direct correlation between how much gunk is found and the number of hours the Audio equipment is run especially the AC Plug which gets contaminated the fastest and has the greatest impact on performance and sound qu ..
