| Blu-Ray/HD DVD | Review--BDP-S5000ES Blu-Ray | dragon53 | 4 | 2009-06-25 21:11 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I know what you are thinking: "Jerry - you spent $2,000 on a Blu-rayplayer. Are you out of your mind?" Yes, I am out of my mind, forreasons other than my willingness to spend on my home theater as ifthere is no recession, yet the investment in a significant Blu-rayplayer for my main home theater rig is looking better and better eachday. The common misconception about Blu-ray is that, because it isclearly superior as a format compared to DVD-Video, you can simply buya cheapie Blu-ray player and get topnotch performance. While alower-priced Sony BDP-S360 is a very capable unit, it doesn't come w |
| Television Configuration | How to Calibrate your HDTV with Avia/Digital Video Essentials | claudio | 10 | 2008-11-17 23:43 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Avia and Digital Video Essentials for BeginnersUsing Avia and Digital Video Essentials to calibrate your HDTV (Easy?)In the beginning there was analog television and we were so thrilled to have moving pictures and sound in the home, quality was irrelevant. Color was introduced and the awe continued. Broadcast standards emerged for contrast, brightness and eventually color, but in the end the individual TV set makers would always have to adjust for the capabilities of their newest analog displays and manufacturing design standards. For instance a green tint in a dark or bright screen might indicate a grayscale issue. A \"strong\" or \"glowing\" or \"wrong color\" green relative to blue and red might indicate a color decoder issue.
Using the DVE DVD and color filters, one adjusts color and hue so that each color within the DVD generated color \"bar\" appears uniform as close to the same shade as po |
| Television Troubleshooting | kp51ws500-- color fade, green tint | Buffysman | 1 | 2004-07-08 09:47 |
| First 650 characters of this post | My SONY KP-51SW500 is 1 1/2 years old. The last month or so after the set is warmed up, the colors fade and there is a light green tint on the whole picture. Shut off TV and turn back on, colors start out good then slowly get worse after a minute or so. Called Sony and after half hour of dicking around with hue, color, unplugging this and unplugging that, moving speakers, etc....he finally gave me a event #. Will set up service call, but was wondering if anyone knew for sure what was causing this, |

| First 650 characters of this post | I found this on another Fourm: UMR Does GWIII XBR & WE (Updated to include WE)
It appears most of the adjustments for these two sets are nearly the same.I finally have some useful information to post. This afternoon/evening I spent about 4 hours tweaking bigscreentv\'s KF-60XBR950. I was able to improve the resolution, gray scale and color decoder in his set. Generally, I would say the GWIII XBR can look very close to a fully tweaked GWII XBR. The bright 60\ |

| First 650 characters of this post | I own a 60xbr800. The over all problem with the LCD Monitor is the factory presets set by Sony. The White level (picture setting on the menu) is the problem not the Black level what you have to do is turn your white level down until the pixel ghosting and the light slightly disappear from the back ground and the faces on the peoples. After that turn your Black levels up. Set your hue 4 or 5 clicks toward the green thereby taking some of the tint out. Set your sharpness all the way up. Set temp to warmth there you have it standard ISF calibration. Enjoy your set. Sony Grand Wega is the best LC |

| First 650 characters of this post | I own a KF-60XBR800. The problem with the picture quality is factory presets. What you would have to do is to turn down the white level until the pixel white ghosting disappear. And next you turn the black level up which is the briteness after that set the hue 4 or 5 clicks toward the green until take out some the tint. Turn your sharpness all the way up. Finally set your temp to warmth. There you have it. There is no way of proving standard tv because the monitor you have is a true digital display only for a digital signal not analog that why standard tv has poor picture quality. Your displa |

| First 650 characters of this post | I purchased a KV-36FV27 about 60 days ago. I am now on my third set. All three sets have had varying levels of the same problems - geometry and color purity. All three sets have had a yellow tint in the lower left corner and cyan tint in the upper and lower right corners.
The first two sets suffered from poor geometry - most visible during the playing of DVD\'s. On letterbox DVD\'s the left top of the DVD image visibly curved down.
The latest set has good geometry - the letterbox image is nearly perfectly flat. The yellow and cyan is still present in the corners (the y |

| First 650 characters of this post | Well, it depends.
What is the television and dvd player that you currently have? I can probably give you a better answer. The best way to ensure picture quality depends on the dvd player and television.
But normally, using component video from the DVD to Television gives the best possible picture. From there you can adjust your television settings to get the optimal picture possible.
The following can help you with the television picture.
