Recommended after display the search results. I would open the links in a new window. Read the postings and when done close the window. And open the next posting that you want to read in a new window, close that window and repeat. This is probably the most efficient way.

Also, try the new Google Search which searches the entire Agoraquest website. Click here

For Televisions issues, red/green blinking lights, vertical lines, D Board, Lamp Driver and more.
I would vist our "Frequently Asked Questions for Sony Products" forum and read the "Television Trouble Shooting Information Packages" thread. There are several service bulletin packages that can help resolve those issues.
For Televisions issues with blue, green, optical block, extending warranty or other related issues
I would visit our new Sony Alert/Warranty recall section at Sony Recall/Warranty Section

I removed the cover of the screw, I have a screwdriver that has the correct size and I can turn the screw. I can fasten it, i can losen(?) it, but it just won't "come out".I'm not entirely sure this one screw is the only thing keeping the parts together on

First 650 characters of this postThanks for the info. I am having fun with this unit. I was using a PCG SRX 99 until the screen got broken, sigh. Is there any way to adapt the CD player that came with that unit to use with the 505tr? The end doesn\'t look like it would fit most pc cards. I have a few programs-like Streets and Trips that are not available on anything but CD. Philip

First 650 characters of this postI am working on a friends Vaio PCG-R505ES laptop.  He has several problems: 1.  The hard drive is constantly being accessed for read and write commands, hence the machine operates slowly2.  I have installed 512 M of additional RAM in the single RAM socket provided under the keyboard.  The BIOS sees this RAM but the OS does not.The unit is running Windows XP SP2.  I have updated the BIOS to the only one I could find on line which is R0227C1 dated 11/07/02.  I can find no meaningful motherboard drivers.  I have defragged with the latest copy

First 650 characters of this postThank you!!!I have found this bit of information on the dc jack attached to the motherboard. It appears that it is attached to a harness which is attached to the motherboard. If I replace the harness with the dc connecter on it, it should fix my problem. Does this sound right? Look at this diagram I found.http://www.nexttronics.com/pcg-v505g.htm#Main%20parts Look at Ref. No.9 (Harness w/ DC Jack)BTW, thanks for the link with the ram. I really appreciate all of your help.Matt

First 650 characters of this postjhmauldin,Greetings and welcome. I couldn\'t find a diagram for your model but most Vaio notebooks are very similar in disassembly. If you click on THIS link (courtesy of rhadsea) you can download a PDF file that has a great diagram that shows an exploited picture of assembly. It should give you a good idea how your PCG-FXA35D comes apart. Select the free download.Out of curiousity, why do you need to take your notebook apart? Joe
Computers Configurationv505bx disassembly and fan replacement questionrhadsea82005-11-19 14:07
First 650 characters of this postHello,I finally paid $35 to get the fan on my v505bx replaced. The computer shop I went to said that they will never work on this model Sony laptop again. The manager thought it would only be a half-hour\'s work (which is what he charged me) but it took him and another assistant about 1.5 hours. To replace the fan, they had to literally almost disassemble the whole thing to get the fan out. They showed me some hidden screws that I needed to take out that were hidden behind some plastic coverings. But, in the end, I would never try to open this up again.

First 650 characters of this postI have had this little notebook for a couple of years now and it is still running strong. After a hard drive upgrade, new OS, and more recently added ram you just can\'t beat it. I recently aquired a PCGA-DVD51/A (external dvd player) to upgrade from the standard cd-rom player I had. It plays dvd\'s much better now since I installed more ram but still gets a bit choppy at times. I saw on a website where the owner of a PCG-Z505LE has installed an ATI Rage Mobility/M, but the LE apparantly had an agp slot. Anyone familiar with the chipset this 505HE has or anyone had any experience with upgradin

No display or backlight on the LCD. No beepsAttaching an external monitor, no display. The only other thing that I can get it to do is that the wireless lan indicator on/off led will turn on and off with the switch.Any suggestions welcomed. First 650 characters of this posti have an older, lightweight, vaio (pcg z505le) that crashed and before i turn it back in to the repair guys, i wanted to ask if anyone had any other ideas.  it will not run the recovery cd (it has that as it\'s first boot up option). after i turn it on, the sony logo appears on the screen, and then just black screen.  if i hit f2 a bunch of times while it\'s starting, it will bring me to the start-up/set-up screens, where i\'ve restored all the defaults and saved/exited.  i had the hard drive replaced and that didn\'t work. i tried to load windows xp (it\'s current os is ME).&n

Computers TroubleshootingSony Vaio PCG-R505JSK - Memory, CPU and Hard Disk questionmostwired12005-09-11 13:23
First 650 characters of this postHi,I just got a mini laptop - a Sony PCG-R505JSK. I guess it\'s similar to entire PCGR505 series. The original specs are: 30 GB HDD, Pentium III Mobile CPU 850 MHz, 256kb L2 cache, 100 MHz FSB, 256 MB RAM. I would like to upgrade it, and have a few questions:1. If someone has the same laptop - is the original hard drive 4200 or 5400 RPM?2. I have found a 1GHz Intel P3 Mobile processor, which has 100MHz bus and 256k cache, Micro-PGA2. What processor number is the original 850 MHz processor? Is it SL53L with Micro-PGA2 package (which will fit the 1GHz processor), or a 495
