| Television Troubleshooting | Sony KP-WT510 Convergence issue | vgp | 3 | 2009-10-29 10:13 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I have a Sony KP-46WT510 that was manufactured in October 2003. Everything works fine but now there appears to be a convergence issue. I have tried the flash focus and even the manual convergence but to no avail. What I found very odd is that during the convergence adjustment, the upper left and upper right corners are affected, no where else. I have uploaded a picture showing the upper left hand corner and only the BLUE appears "crooked" and there is nothing I can do to fix it. I do not want to get ripped off by a repair shop as the pictu |
| Television Troubleshooting | KP-51HW40 - No picture, 5 blinks | TheDarkCutlass | 4 | 2009-10-10 15:12 |
| First 650 characters of this post | Ok, i\'ve done something, not 100% sure what, but got it back working again. I still have the 5 blinks though. I ran the tv for over an hour and it stayed on, just kept flashing the 5 blinks. I\'m assuming its the G2, but i\'ve adjusted an adjusted until it appears to be near perfect, but still flashes at me.
It also appears that the green is like, overbleeding over to the right. Example is when in service mode and tinkering with the convergence manually, the green [ ] that u can select, has little tabs hanging past the ] on top and bottom (if that can make any since) I got the Gr |
| Television Troubleshooting | Help, please. KV 32v42 issue- fairly typical it seems | DireMcCain | 2 | 2009-09-03 09:43 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I'm a Sony fanatic. DA5ES, 9000ES DVD PLayer. KV 32v42 TV...and there's the rub. I returned 4 of these to Circuit City before I found a good one. And even it wouldn't power up when I first got it home. I removed the case and, yes, the fuse holder was empty. The fuse buried under the PCB... Anway- the set has been perfect since 1999. Two days ago I switched it on and the image shrunk to the top third of the screen (but still full horizontal) then quickly went to all black and stayed there. Sound was perfect and I could still feel the strong static or whatever it's called from the sc |

| First 650 characters of this post | Welcome to Agoraquest! Sometimes, the convergence adjustments need to be touched up. Replacing the board is not too difficult, but there are wires that need to be disconnected from the old board and attached to the new board. |

| First 650 characters of this post | I had many of the same problems many of you describe. It started with red and blue convergence lines which I put up with for some time. Recently the entire screen started turning red after about ten minutes of viewing. Three repair shops told me over the phone that the red crt was failing and the cost would outweigh the value of the television. Shortly before taking a hammer to the set I thought I should possibly try adjusting the crt intensity setting for the red.To make a long story short I opened up the front of the tv, removed the lower access panel and wiggled all three intensity knobs ba |
| Television Troubleshooting | How do you access service menu on Sony PVM-2950Q? | Reinhart | 3 | 2009-06-12 17:14 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I have a Sony PVM-2950Q which requires tweaking of the convergence and pincushion.Unlike my PVM-2530, where adjustments could be made by adjusting potentiometers directly on the horizontal drive and dynamic convergence circuits (and I have it tweaked as best as I could and everything looks simply amazing on it), I believe the 2950Q has these same adjustments done electronically. The remote commander, an RM-854, is on its way.Thank you for your help. - Reinhart |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have a Sony kp48s70 which has been trouble free for nine years, until yesterday. It seems to have developed a convergence problem most noticeable on the right side of the screen. I know where the screen and focus controls are ,but are there convergence adjustments? Also, can this set genereate it's own test pattern?Any help is appreciated. |

| First 650 characters of this post | Just an update on the above post. I called the Sony tech dude back and told him that one of the chips he replaced was not the MCZ3001D. He sounded very confused ... probably a language issue, but he came over right away and looked at the chip. He apologized for making the mistake took apart the set again to replace the CXA8070AP chip again. After doing that the TV worked, but he couldn\'t adjust the picture properly it was out of focus and the convergence was way off. He tested some of the fuses around the chip that he had just replaced and one was burned out. After replacing that my precious |
| Television Troubleshooting | Detailed instructions to clean Sony LCD TV optical system | Crazycanuck65 | 7 | 2009-04-11 20:37 |
| First 650 characters of this post | I just finished the procedure you so wonderfully posted on cleaning the optical block, had great success with the removal of components, etc. I was really surprised at how much of a film has built up on all related optical components. Unfortunately i got over zealous and removed the lcd's from the prism to give it a "good" cleaning. To my chagrin, my convergence has been thrown out due to my dissassembly!!!Any thoughts as to how I can re-adjust the convergence using the service menu? Thanks |

| Projector Series | SONY VPL-HW10 review | dragon53 | 1 | 2009-02-04 14:40 |
| First 650 characters of this post | It never ceases to amaze me how front-projection display quality continues to progress, while simultaneously dropping in price. Even the normally premium-priced line from Sony now has a very attractively-priced 1080p resolution SXRD projector, the recently introduced VPL-HW10, which starts the line just below the VPL-VW60. The new VPL-VW70 replaces the venerable "Ruby," or VPL-VW100, introduced a couple of years ago. Carrying a list price of $3,500, the VPL-HW10 is the least expensive SXRD Sony has yet introduced. It is not just a re-badged VPL-VW60 either. In fact, the new HW10 is superior in |

\"The cause for this is the blue tube in the set is shorting out. It is VERY common in your model and will most likely require replacement. | First 650 characters of this post | Hello everyone. My dad bought a KP57WV600 tv that had a known convergence issue with the red CRT. I've since repaired that problem by adjusting the voltage pot for the red crt. After that though, the picture still didn't look right. Things that were supposed to be blue were greenish and things that were supposed to be white were yellow. Because of that, it appeared that blue CRT was not on. I opened up the back of the TV and sure enough, it wasn't. To make a long story short, I do have voltage to the CRT drive board, |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have fixed all the problems on this tv as of today, i have posted on here about my high voltage problem which turned out to be another bad solder on another board, I have worked on this tv for a month straight every night after work, and i think my wife has had enough lol.. Its working fine EXCEPT, i messed with the manual Convergence adjustment and now have it looking bad.. I have made a dvd which I pause with a black and white checkerboard image on the screen, i have got it as good as i can get it but no matter what i try i can never get it right, i had marked all my adjusters |

| First 650 characters of this post | I have a sony kp-51ws520 that I've never had serviced since I bought it around 11/2004. It has been flashing led lights before giving me a picture for a while (but I ignored not knowing that was a sign of service needed).Sunday night it was fine. Monday morning the blue color drifted from the rest of the colors causing a blue halo effect and with a nice yellow tint. I tried to flash focus but that didn't work. I went to the manual convergence screen and seemed only to make it worse or no effect when I tried adjusting the crosses (the crosses have a |

nside older (non-hd) televisions there is an electron gun of sorts that fires at each pixel to determine which color it displays. Usually normal distortion happens at the far left and/or right of the screen. Distortion in the center (to me anyway) sounds like it points to a pretty serious malfunction. The fact that it is not constant leads me to believe that any amount of screen adjustment wouldn\'t permenantly solve the problem. If you\'re lucky you could just have to replace a capacitor, but the problem could be as deep as the tube itself. If it\'s worth it to yo |
